What I'd love for hanzibar to do, is :
1. for the user to select a default dictonary to load automatically. Reason: I donated, but now I feel really lazy to use it since it requires me to select a dictionary everytime I open my browser.
2. also have the ability to float, or have some sort of ability to look at the meaning if I right click. Reason: There have been several times that I ran into a popup window and doesn't allow me to see what the kanji that I'm looking for is. Also I'm a bit annoyed at it being at the top all the time.
These are just suggestions. I'm sorry to talk about my annoyances, but I just wanted to let it be known so that perhaps something could be done about those things.

Hello, yeah, hanzi toolbar is really cool. I think i'll give you the 10dollars (and it should be the first time i buy a software this way) but i'd like to know if in the Japanese translation is included (or will be included) the Personal Names Dictionary and the Places Name Dictionary (from Jim Breen's project). If that's the case i'll donate soon.... ^_-

The ENAMDICT is 28Mb, about 4 times the size of the already huge EDICT dictionary being used!
It might be integrated in the future, but isn't currently.

Personal Names Dictionary and the Places Name Dictionary (from Jim Breen's project). On a positive note, it seems that the decision to include SQLite in FFox 2.0 is now more or less final. So if you'll wait till then, I am sure someone will write translation software that will be extensible to hundred-MBs dictionaries easily Suggestion/request: in 1.2a, when hanzibar was one-line high, the translations were shortened and all on one line (tooltip style). Only when bar was bigger, the detail translation was given. In 1.3, translations are always multiline, i.e. the correct meaning is most of the time hidden on invisible line. Would it be possible to backport this feature from 1.2a? (when bar is one-line, use tooltip-style spacesaving translations)

The single-line translation fell out in the speedup rework, its back in 1.3b. Re: SQL in Firefox - were you on #developers when I was asking about it?

Somehow the dictionary handling is much faster there, even though it uses the same principle. And it is GPL ;-)

They don't parse the dictionary for English->Japanese lookups.

Your tool is very useful, a few comments on user ease - enable choice of Trad, Simple or both characters, A bit too much on the screen at once for a beginner.
Allow extensioin of main translation window horisontally as well as vertically so we do not need to use up so much of the screen window and make more natural to read.
Why not add other languages such as Eng-French, Chin-French ect.

The window can be resized both ways already: I'm unsure at present whether Firefox allows less-than-full-width for a toolbar, for use by other items. The sidepanel configuration has been suggested: I feel the nature of these dictionaries would be very cramped that way. I'll add optional information preferences when I add Hakka and more Japanese pronunciations. C->F would straightforward given a dictionary, but as I don't know French, testing word roots of French for F->C would be difficult.
