I'm using version 1.1a on Firefox 1.5 and I still have a problem. For example on the following page of text: www-personal.umich.edu/~dporter/sampler/sword.htmlThe first character of lines 1, 3 and 4 don't show in Hanzibar, but all the other characters work fine.

That problem looks like a FireFox bug.
I've got a workaround, but I'd like to test it before release: can I send you a version, Bazza?

I have just updates to Firefox 1.5 and HanziBar 0.14b.
Now when i load the Eng-Chinese dictionary i get an error message (at 27000): "Warning: Unresponsive Script" and an option to stop script or continue. It seems like if i continue to load it does complete loading. Do you know why this happens, and if it is fixable? I have tried uninstalling and installing again but the problem persists.
Thanks
PS Thank you for a really useful extension!

See "unresponsive script" on the previous page of this thread.
Its harmless; solved in the commercial version with a progress meter.

No need, I've uploaded 1.1b now.
That was a problem with Firefox returning the wrong character index when there were leading spaces not shown due to HTML formatting.

Bazza is the guy that turned me onto your code. I see he posts here too.
Is there a trial version that I can download? I don't mind paying the $10 for something useful but I would like to take a look at it first.

I only created a trial for the IE version; Firefox had the older free version & flash demo showing latest features.
There's also the Usage Tips showing what it can do.

I still have not recieved my Registration Key. Purchased Hanzibar with Paypal 0n 2/1/06. I don't know if there has been an error in sending it and if it is automated or has to be manually sent by Admin. Please let me know how to obtain it, or send it to me. Looking forward to using this. Thank you.

I just re-sent the email auto response manually, and will send a private forum message in case that doesn't reach you.
You're the second person from [Major Email Company] not receiving registration this week.
I suspect its due to a Spam filter thinking similar messages to different accounts must be spam...
The email might have ended up in a Spam/Junk mailbox.

Hi
I think Hanzibar is an excellent program but it always crashes my firefox forcing me to restart it. I'm using hanzibar 1.2a and firefox 1.5.0.1. I only use the Japanese/English dictionary.
PROBLEM: If i stay on the same website after loading the dictionary, a crash will not occur if i am lucky. However, every time I try to open another tab or type a new URL in the address bar and load, my firefox hangs.
I hope that there will be a fix to this bug the upcoming release as I have paid for this and wish the functionality to be stable.
Another suggestion would be adding the function that we can choose our default dictionary. By doing that, there is no to load the dictionary every time we on our internet browser. A "load at startup?" function will be great.
Kind Regards, Ian Goh

Do you have the same problem with the smaller Japanese set (or the Chinese dictionary even though you're not using it)?
What operating system, and how much memory?
Do you have other extensions installed?
BTW: the Japanese-smaller-set only reads in the (P)opular words from the dictionary.

Hi Admin,
I have tried with the other 2 dictionarys last night with no problems. I only have problem with the main Japanese/English dictionary.
I'm use Windows XP on a Compaq nx7010 laptop with 1GB memory.
I have a lot of other extensions installed fasterfox, flashgot, adblock, forecastfox, PDF download, Tabbrowser preferences, Wixx RSS news reader, , save image in folder, add bookmark here, long titles, navigational sounds, no script, IE tab, InFormEnter and dictionary tooltip.
My opinion is that the problem doesn't lie in the installation of other extensions because, if so, it would have crashed when I use the Chinese/English or Japanese/English smaller set.
I prefer the main Japanese dictionary as it can read longer words.
Thank you Ian Goh

Your system config is similar to mine, so the likely problem is a resource-competition with your other extensions.
In the future I'm considering redesigning Hanzibar to avoid loading the dictionaries into memory, at the cost of slower response time.
Until then I can only suggest testing for which extension causes the conflict, or using the smaller dictionary...
