I think you meant "Can't" ... The PDF viewer isn't HTML, its a Plugin which doesn't return mouse events or text to HanziBar. However, with PDF's you can copy text to the clipboard and paste it to get the hover-translation: (below is an image - no translation there either yet )

1) You are right. I forgot to write "not".
2) I can only copy the words, which are written in alphabet. But not the Chinese characters. Maybe it depends on the PDF-file? I don't know ..
I see that you can copy the Chinese characters too ...
UPDATE: I found a PDF-file in the Internet. I can copy the Chinese characters from it to the clipboard. So I can use HanziBar.
Thank you for your help.

Have you considered writing a stand-alone version of hanzibar, that would work outside your browser?

A standalone version would be limited to cut & paste capability, as picking up data from mouse movement in another program (outside the standalone or outside the browser) would require character recognition. That's something I'm working on too, but nothing to expect soon Do you see big advantages in a standalone version using cut & paste?

There is this program that can read character outside your browser, it can even read Chinese menu items, but it's a bit slow cause you have wait for the popup box to come up everytime. It doesn't work as well as Hanzibar. wakan.manga.cz/I think you might find this little program interesting as well: users.belgacom.net/chardic/cocr2.htmlI use this all the time now for reading characters in images.
